Brian's Introduction

"Hello all and welcome to the APT-P Restoration team webiste. Here is a little information on whats happening with the APT restoration. Most weekends the restoration works starts with usually Myself, Gary and Mike being the main people on the project.

I volunteered for the APT restoration in April and started the following week, along with Gary at first and then other people joined. The first job i did was to power wash the entire train both sides, this in itself took 3 weekends to do and it improved the look considerably with all the algae removed and cleaned downed.

We started by removing rubbish from the north part of the train, ie:- driving trailer 370006, the 1st class guards van and part of the other 1st class coach. Up to now it had taken about 7-8 weekends putting us into June. This where we hit a big problem there was no power to the lighting in this part of the train, there was power to the sockets - air conditioning and this still worked so this was puzzling.

Leaks were located, fixed mainly on the power car roof and one window in 1st class.

While Gary sorted out the electrics I carried on with the general repair work fixing the 2 sets of seats in the DTS 370003 and replacing the carpet in the 1st class.
